House of arches

If I didn’t write that this building actually is in Japan, you would probably have guessed Italy or some other Mediterranean country where you would expect to see arches like this. Every doorway and window opening is arched. A very relaxed colour pallet sets the mood – raw concrete anchors the the house to the ground, and all interior walls are rendered white to brighten up.

The floor of the dining room merges with the kitchen countertop

There are four staircases in the house – the uppermost climbs one of the exterior walls to give access to a roof top terrace.
