Will Alsop – fun and ugliness

Mr Will Alsop recently held a talk in the V&A where he stated that most of Britain’s 32000 architects are not worthy of the title, calling Chipperfield depressing and Foster’s work grey. Alsop wants more fun and playfulness in architecture, which is evident from his own designs (though some images might look like renderings, they are all built projects):

I will leave David Chipperfield’s work for another post, except from this picture of Museum of Modern Literature in Berlin by him to show what Alsop characterizes as “boring and depressing”. Juxtaposed with the Alsop-architecture you can decide for yourself which one might have more potential.
