In 2006 the architects ENCORE HEUREUX were asked to convert a boat to a floating cultural venue in Paris. Though it was once a boat, it is not any more and is more like a building floating on the river Seine. The construction consists of three storeys but with a double height space in the middle where the stage and dance floor is located. This room is totally unexpected when seeing the building from the outside. The architects are contrasting the primary steel construction by covering the outside with vertical slatted larch and pine plywood panels in the restaurant, giving the construction an organic and living appearance contrary to its grayish dockland surroundings.
