Bunker 599

© Atelier de Lyon, Rietveld Landscape

Thought this was a really appealing piece of work! Rietveld Landscape and Atelier de Lyon transformed this old bunker – a historic piece of architecture – into a monument, and gave the structure an even stronger presence in the landscape.

The artists cut out and removed a section of the concrete structure and let a staircase run straight through it. Visitors will then be walking down the steps from the upper bank, through the bunker, and then continue the walk on a boardwalk leading out to the artificial lake.
